Rick Riordan Essay Contest

When Rick Riordan came to Miami last fall, three of his biggest fans from Miami Country Day were there to listen to his presentation at Miami Dade College on Saturday, October 10th, and receive an autographed copy of his latest book, Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer.  These students were winners of the Rick Riordan Essay Contest sponsored by the Franco Center.  The contest was open to all students at Miami Country Day School. Twelve students wrote a short essay on his or her favorite Rick Riordan book or character.  All of the essays were outstanding, but only one winner for each division could win.  Judges had a tough choice to make.

The winning essays were Rebecca Fulford (Upper School), Nicole Rodan (Middle School) and Harry Florin (Lower School).  Congratulations to these talented writers and to the students who received honorable mention for entering the contest: Juanpablo Casas, Jordan Vainder, Robert Depradine, Marco Pacheco, Gabrielle Freeman, Jashan Singh, Kamran Djahed, Ana Muniz, and Jon De Zabala.
