Last year’s Walk raised $100,000!

Miami Country Day’s annual Walk the Walk is this Saturday, October 20th.  Spartan or not, young, old, abled or challenged, on bike, foot, scooter or skateboard, anyone can participate.

In order to buy tickets ahead of time, go to the Resources tab on your My Country Day account and click the first icon on the left, a pink rectangle with a white ribbon subtitled “Walk the Walk”. There, you will find information about the Walk and a link to register online.

The link is also available here: http://mcdswalk2018.bpt.me/

If you can’t make it to the Walk or would like to contribute more to the great cause you can donate to the GoFundMe by using the following link:  https://www.gofundme.com/the-heidi-hewes-walk-for-cancer&rcid=r01-153957042605-154cf68a851e48ed&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_w

You can also register the day of the Walk starting at 8:00 AM on the Athletic Field. Even if you sign up beforehand, you must check in the day of the Walk with the Cancer Walk Committee members working the check-in booths. The first 350 people to arrive will receive a Cancer Walk t-shirt.

At 8:30 AM, those participating will start to donate their hair for Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a non-profit organization that makes wigs for cancer patients. The 5K Walk around Miami Shores will start at 9:00 AM, and at 10:30 AM, a family BBQ (complimentary for those registered) will start. There will also be plenty of games and homecoming events such as each grade’s carnival booth, powderpuff football game, and powderpuff dance, so make sure to bring as many friends and family members as you can for a day of fun that benefits a worthy cause.

All of the funds raised by the Walk go towards the Heidi Hewes Chapter of the Woman’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami and The Sylvester Center for Comprehensive Cancer Research at the Miller School of Medicine. This year’s goal is $50,000.
