Susan Vreeland, author of Girl in Hyacinth Blue, pays a virtual visit to MCDS on Tuesday, 9/27.

Susan Vreeland, the author of the high school summer reading book Girl in Hyacinth Blue, will be having a virtual Q&A tomorrow. Tuesday, 9/27. to respond to some of the questions students might have about the book. Ms. Whittington made the initial contact with Vreeland so that she would be available to make a virtual visit via Skype. This virtual Q&A will be held in Smurfit during multipurpose block and is completely voluntary and open to any student or faculty members who wish to attend and ask questions about Vreeland’s work, giving members of MCDS a chance to interact with the woman behind the summer reading book. People are welcome to come in between 9:40 and 10:20 to speak and listen to Susan Vreeland talk about her book. Furthermore, the interview will extend into track 2 for three English classes taught by Ms. Whittington, Ms. Martinez, and Mr. Brown, so that they can delve deeper in the author’s meaning and significance of her novel. This session will give students and faculty the means to come closer to fully understanding Vreeland’s acclaimed novel, Girl In Hyacinth Blue and understand its relevance to the MCDS community.
