As a weather emergency cleared the field this afternoon, just as the seniors concluded their Powderpuff cheerleading routine, a dilemma became apparent.  With no immediate opportunity to play the championship Powderpuff football game between the seniors and the juniors, and the carnival wrapping up with students eager to go home to get ready for the Homecoming dance, there was uncertainty regarding what to do about the final football game.  In a move that Ms. Kelly regards as the ultimate in good sportsmanship, both the juniors and the seniors agreed that if either class were to win Homecoming by fewer than four points (the difference between the 1st and 2nd place finishes in Powderpuff football), then no trophy would be awarded tonight, and, instead, the final football showdown between the juniors and the seniors would occur on Monday afternoon.

Of course, when they made this agreement, both classes likely felt relatively certain of their victory.  As Ms. Kelly computed and recomputed the scores late this afternoon, factoring in everything from the junior’s victory in the film competition to the sophomores victory in the carnival booth and Powderpuff cheerleading contest to the freshmen victory in Cancer Walk attendance, it became clear – the Class of 2018 had “officially” won Homecoming by a single point.  However, with so narrow a victory, that theoretical final football showdown would now become a reality.

The total score seen below includes everything but the final results of this coming Monday afternoon’s powderpuff football game between the seniors and juniors.
