Life keeps getting better

Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school.

— Albert Einstein

As a multi-cultured, 15 year old American girl with Caribbean roots , I have many reasons to be grateful.  I am thankful to receive the educational opportunities that are present to me today.

Education is a fundamental resource for both individuals and societies. In the USA, where I reside, I am able to get access to a private education. The institution which I attend gives me the normal high school experience like the types of experiences that you can only dream about in movies. As I could go on and on endorsing my educational opportunities, in the back of my mind is the lingering thought that not everybody has access to the same opportunities that I do; and the reality of misfortune is that although there are reasons to be grateful and a lot to be happy for, society on the bases of education still faces many difficulties.

According to the U.S. Department of E. ducation the number of illiterate teens is 13% meaning that almost 90% of teens are able to obtain an education. In the United States students have the privilege of being able to learn and get an education which is something that is very valuable.

“A good education is a foundation for a better future.” Elizabeth Warren. Referring to that, having an education helps people to access all of their human rights. Every time a student is given his or her diploma, there is the overwhelming assurance that another educated mind is contributing to society.

The difficulties of a being a student can give us many reasons to give up. Whether it be an Algebra 3 exam or a speech and debate class; stress overwhelms your body and you start wishing that you can be anywhere on this planet but in the position you’re in right now. Although you might feel like giving up you have to remember that getting an education not only helps you in the long run but you help contribute to society no matter who you are or where you come from.

Although you may not physically see it, but education is the gift of contribution to a better life for you, the future, and our society.
